His areas of expertise include: daylight and sunlight assessments, energy-efficient lighting, lighting impacts on wellbeing, health,  and performance, lighting surveys and optimisation, post-occupancy evaluation studies, obtrusive light assessments, and computer modelling of daylight and electric light. Cosmin regularly delivers presentations and training on lighting and is a lecturer in lighting at The Bartlett, UCL's Faculty of the Built Environment.

He has a MSc. Eng in Architectural Engineering from The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and a background in thermal building physics and energy and daylight simulation. The focus of Wieweg’s current work is on data-driven sustainability solutions and the development of easy to use architectural design tools, created using engineering science. His work has garnered interest in the architectural and engineering communities of Sweden, resulting in recent profiles in industry magazines Arkitekten and Byggkoll. 

In addition, her aim is to complement research conducted in the psychological laboratory with field research using ambulatory sensing and smartphone technology. This enables a better understanding of the complex interplay between humans and their environment in everyday life. She holds a Bachelor in Architecture and a Master in Human Technology Interaction. Her PhD project focused on the beneficial effects of exposure to nature and daylight on mental health. After her PhD, she has worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the Eindhoven University of Technology, University of Groningen, and Jönköping University. In 2018, she founded her own research consultancy company ‘LightGreen Health’ with the aim to deepen the scientific understanding of the beneficial effects of our physical environment on health and wellbeing.

Tina joined VELUX in 2018 from a position as Executive Vice President of Research and Development, Product Portfolio and Global Marketing at Nilfisk.
Tina has extensive leadership experience within product management, product development, innovation, procurement and change management. Tina has an MBA from The European Institute of Purchasing Management (EIPM) in France.

Since EFFEKT was founded in 2007, Sinus has led national and international projects within urban planning, architecture, urban spaces, and innovative, sustainable strategies and concepts for future living.
The firm’s work has been recognized by numerous national and international design awards and has been published widely in books, magazines, and digital media around the world. As a partner at EFFEKT, Sinus has received Nykredits Motivation Award for EFFEKT’s focus on social inclusion in urban planning and architecture.
Currently, EFFEKT is exhibiting the installation ‘Ego to Ego’ at the Venice Biennale of Architecture themed ‘How will we live together’.

He joined the practice in 1995, after completing his studies at the Bristol and Edinburgh Universities, and initially worked on the Al Faisaliah project in Saudi Arabia and the LIFFE project in the City of London.
At the Build for Life Conference 2021, Hugh will be presenting the Narbo Via museum in Narbonne, southern France. The building incorporates galleries for permanent and temporary exhibitions, a multimedia education centre and library, as well as restoration and storage facilities.

Before landing at the European Commission, Lorenzo worked between Italy and Belgium for the architectural design sector for 6 years, mostly in the field of urban planning and landscaping. Since March 2021 he is part of the New European Bauhaus Team at JRC. During the co-design phase, he participated in the screening and the analysis of the public contributions, and now started working on the labelling strategy for quality architecture. He coordinates the activities of the New European Bauhaus High-Level Roundtable.

In 2016 he was honoured with the “40 Under 40” award at that year’s Lighting Design Awards. In 2019, he joined the Perceptual Intelligence lab (π-lab) at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering as a PhD candidate. This PhD project is part of the Horizon 2020 Innovative Training Network, DyViTo: Dynamics in Vision and Touch. Cehao’s research aims to exploit insights from perception science to support advances in lighting technology.

Her latest project is called “Dream View” and explores how design can make room for meditative reflection by designing 3 different experiences of observing the sky.

She previous lived in London for over six years as foreign correspondent when she produced a series of exclusive interviews with world renowned architects and designers, before she moved back to China in late 2019. She is now based in Shanghai.

Working on projects in the US, Italy, France, and Denmark, her architecture practice focuses on residential renovation, helping homeowners balance affordability, sustainability, and cultural heritage conservation. As a researcher and strategist, she has collaborated with creative companies such as 3XN/GXN, SPACE10 and Danske BoligArkitekter on projects ranging from organizational innovation to the effects of IoT on inhabitant well-being.

Her master's thesis "Full Circle Renovations" responding to the New European Bauhaus initiative cumulated in the Grundejernes Investeringsfond funded webinar, "Sustainability in Residential Renovation," bringing together architects, researchers and homeowners from over 30 countries to provide input and feedback on the project.

She completed her Doctoral degree and worked as a research and teaching assistant at Istanbul Technical University. She is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellow at the Architecture et Climat at Louvain research institute for Landscape, Architecture, Built Environment at Université catholique de Louvain. The research is titled ‘SHAPE: Smartness, Health Assessment and Performance Evaluation’ and supervised by Prof. Sergio ALTOMONTE. VELUX is the industrial partner of this research with secondments in VELUX Belgium and Denmark. Her research expertise is on energy efficiency in buildings, environmental design, daylighting, visual comfort and post-occupancy evaluation. Her research interests also include indoor environmental quality, health and wellbeing, inter- and trans-disciplinary research in the built environment.

The firm’s main focus is public projects that devote special attention to the surrounding natural and rural landscape. From the very beginning, the firm's main means of obtaining commissions has been participating in European and local design competitions and calls for bids. Mojtaba has been working on sustainable and healthy built environments with a special focus on bioclimatic and biophilic approaches in cold and extreme climates, as the Arctic. Mojtaba is interested in interdisciplinary-transdisciplinary research-and-developments employing collaborative and participatory methods. He works on interactive visualization-evaluations and virtual/augmented reality for immersive experiences of environmental qualities in terms of healthy lighting, thermal, indoor air quality, biophilia and energy-efficiency.

At Harvard, Dr. Allen directs the Healthy Buildings program where he created ‘The 9 Foundations of a Healthy Building’. He is also the faculty advisor to the Harvard Healthier Building Materials Academy. He works with Fortune 100 companies on implementing Healthy Building strategies in their global portfolios and presents internationally on the topic of Healthy Buildings. His work has been featured widely in the popular press, including the Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review, National Geographic, Time, NPR, Newsweek, The Washington Post, Fortune and The New York Times. Dr. Allen is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Exposure Science and Environmental Epidemiology and an Associate Editor of the journal Indoor Air. In 2010 he could realize the first completely carbon neutral house in Austria, that was awarded with many national and international prizes. In 2012 he was listed under Europe's most emerging young architects – 40 under 40. Troy was a member of the Art Commission as well as a board member of the Professional Association of Artists in Vorarlberg and the Austrian Association for Architecture_ ÖGFA. Since 2006 he held lectureships at the Technical University of Vienna. Since 2020 he holds a professorship in climate-friendly and resource-efficient architecture at HFT Stuttgart.

Dr Sokol’s research for the Faculty of Architecture focuses on daylight analysis tools, user’s perception of variously lit environments, daylighting for urban design areas and daylight education. In her work with students, she aims to reveal the creative, scientific and fun side of the lighting profession.
Currently, Natalia is actively engaged in daylight educational projects DAYKE (Daylighting Knowledge in Europe) and NLITED as well as in Daylight Academy Educational Package on Daylight, IEA and CIE report on daylight and electric light.

Since starting working together on the very next day after their graduation, Philipp, Christian and their partners have explored the architectural world with an unbiased and fresh view, fundamentally untouched by established architectural routines. Coming from one of the smallest and most sprawling countries in Europe, the responsible use of ground soil and the intelligent reanimation of existing buildings have become ever-growing interests for smartvoll in the last couple of years.

Trained as an architect and developer, De Jonge studied at the Delft University of Technology and has been instrumental in shaping Heijmans mission to create buildings that are, ‘Healthy Living Environments.’ In his role as Director of Sustainability at Heijmans, De Jonge’s focus is on making strategic decisions that help to make smarter and more sustainable buildings that have a positive impact on people and the planet. Harwil de Jonge recently joined the new Board of Advisory of NL Greenlabel, a company with the aim of restoring and promoting biodiversity. 

Mette holds a Master of Architecture from the Aarhus School of Architecture as well as an International Master in Leadership and Innovation from the Copenhagen Business School. Mette has led numerous urban and rural development projects at a national and international level. Besides her work in SLA, Mette is involved in several committees promoting the role of nature and architecture. She is also a board member of the national Danish Architecture Center.

David was also responsible for establishing Altaterra, a sister company of VELUX Group. Before being appointed CEO in January 2018, he was Senior Vice President for Sales, Product Development and Product Management and a member of the VELUX Management Group. David has a degree in Business Administration from Middlesex University and École supérieure de Commerce de Reims.

As the Lead of Hen­ning Larsen's computational design team, he works with cross-disciplinary implementations of various sustainability parameters such as light, shade, sun, wind and geometry as well as the relationship between city and landscape. Mikkel is responsible for digital workflows and has been involved in the develop­ment of several simulation programs, used for early-stage development and thereby combining architecture and engineering, from the very beginning of each project. He has also developed a generative design tool, that can be used to explore scenarios in all design stages. Mikkel is responsible for training new employees in the studio's international simulation tools, Grasshopper, Honey­bee / Ladybug, Radiance and OpenFOAM.

For the past five years, she has worked at NREP with a focus on creating sustainable and healthy cities. She is working on a lasting, positive impact on humanity and the planet. She believes in cross-stakeholder collaborations also when it comes to public-private partnerships. She is driven by ensuring better communities that increase the value of life and ensure physical and mental health for everyone in the cities. If it is not sustainable forever, - it is never sustainable. Lærke Hein, 39, mother of three, lives in Copenhagen

Established in 2007, as an internal division of Danish architectural practice 3XN, GXN has developed partnerships with leading experts across various industries for investigation in material research, data analysis, biology, and digitalisation. Specialising in green design and building strategies within the field of architecture, Lasse regularly serves as a visiting critic for architecture schools and universities around Europe. 

It is an example of how to transform European housing into healthy and sustainable living spaces.

She has also worked as an expert on sustainable design for White Architects, an associate professor at Laval University in Canada, and as a senior researcher within the Daylight Group of the Danish Building Research Institute. After completing a PhD in the Faculty of Engineering at Lund University in 2001, she has contributed to more than 100 scientific communications in the field of daylighting, building simulation, solar shading, solar energy, and climatic design.

After studying Biology in Munich (LMU) and London (University College), he worked at Harvard University. In his research for the Human Sleep Project, Till investigates the human internal clock and sleep in the real world. During his career, he has initiated and directed several large national and international research networks and received several international research prizes. He is the author of two books, Internal Time (Harvard University Press, 2012) and The Right to Sleep (DTV, 2019), and has published more than 200 papers that have been cited more than 20,000 times.

Since 2018 he has been a vital part of the sustainability team at C.F. Møller Architects. As a sustainability engineer, he engages in a wide range of different projects, advising on sustainability strategies and implementation of integrated solutions to optimize building performance. Nicolaj’s work with integrating engineering solutions in the early design phase was recently recognized by the Danish building research institute (BUILD) when he was invited to present an integration of 3D models and the Danish LCA software (LCAByg) to industry professionals. 

He has been at the forefront of applied daylighting research for over 25 years. Following the definitive daylight validation study on Radiance, he pioneered Climate-Based Daylight Modelling. Practice-based work includes: The New York Times Building; Central Park Tower; and, acting as Expert Witness in major rights to light cases. He served as the 'UK Principal Expert on Daylight' for the European Committee for Standardisation (2011-2019), and is an Associate Editor for Lighting Research & Technology.

As Head of Institute at the Royal Danish Academy - Institute of Architecture and Technology, Past President of the Danish Association of Architects and a Vice-president of the UIA, as well as through her writing, curation and debate-contributions, Natalie is a leading voice in setting the agenda for architectures contributions to sustainable development.

With her intense focus on the interaction of colour, material and space, she aims to become clearer about how we as humans experience and emotionally connect with the world around us.
Odgaard shares her time equally between commercial collaborations and an artistic practice based on self-initiated research. On her client list is companies as Kvadrat, Muuto, Montana, HAY, and IKEA, and her exhibition catalogue includes solo exhibitions at Willumsen’s Museum (DK), Röhsska Museum (SE), Designmuseo Helsinki (FI), and Munkeruphus (DK).

In 2006, she founded the design studio Praksis together with Mads Bjørn Hansen.
In parallel with the design studio, Mette fills the role of chairman of Nykredit's Architecture Prize Jury, is a member of the VILLUM Foundation and the VELUX Foundation's nomination committee for the Building Component Prize as well as the Academy and the Artists' Society Jury. Mette has been appointed as a professional judge by the Academic Architects' Association and is on the Ministry of Culture's censor list. Has been a member of the Statens Kunstfonds Arkitekturudvalg (2008-11), and is part of the Artists' Society. In 2016, the Dreyer Foundation's Mentoring Scheme selected Mette as a mentor to strengthen a newly started architectural company.

Her PhD thesis is focused on the influence of ocular characteristics and color of light on discomfort glare perception from daylight at workplaces. She completed her undergraduate degree in architecture and has a Master of Science in Building Science from International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad, India. She also worked as a research fellow at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab (LBNL) in California. Her current work focuses on improving the prediction of discomfort glare models 

Camilla was previously a partner at Gehl Architects, external lecturer at the University of Copenhagen and vice-chairman and board member of the Danish Architects' Association.

With more than twenty years of experience, Professor Song focuses on sustainable theory and design within the scope of architecture, urban studies, and building technology, while promoting the combination of modern design and vernacular architecture throughout his home country. In China, he is a thought leader in the field of sustainable architecture and a key architectural consultant for governments and authorities. 

He is considered an intuitive and entrepreneurial innovator, with a clear ambition of accelerating the adoption of technology and innovative business models across real, cross-sector collaboration and global integration. In the past decade, he has attained and honed a unique set of capabilities and harnessed these to attract support around new and progressive initiatives, products and services.

He is responsible for a number of projects that exclusively deal with destination development within sustainable nature and cultural tourism, with a cross-cutting focus on experience economy. His approach draws on NORRØN's working method, which is based on the place's inherent qualities and cultural heritage. The projects have in common that they are all developed with a high degree of “sense of place”, which seeks to stage the inherent narratives as a lever for future development. In parallel, the projects are most often developed with a high degree of involvement of the developer, which is often a mixture of enthusiasts, organizations, the public and foundations. The ambition is to produce projects where the individual place can recognize itself in the final project.

Anders is mainly focused on sustainable building design and is more concerned with users, location and human synergies than with classical terms of aesthetics. He holds a degree from the Aarhus School of Architecture and is certified as both DGNB Consultant and Sustainability Manager. Among his latest sustainable designs is the winning project for a 30.000 m2 administrative building in Hamburg, planned to be completed with full wood construction.

In 1999, he joined the VELUX Group, where he has been the driver of the VELUX Group’s daylight strategies and initiatives. He has worked continuously with the International VELUX Award for Students of Architecture since its start in 2004 and in 2005, he initiated the VELUX Daylight Symposium as an established international venue for sharing knowledge and ideas across disciplines within architecture and daylight research. Also, he is the director of the international prize for research and practice, The Daylight Award, presented by the VELUX Foundations.

His research centers on the relation between the built environment and health in sub-Saharan Africa. In conjunction with his academic work, Jakob has extensive practice experience with constructions in Europe, Africa and Asia as head of Ingvartsen Architects. His practice work seeks to advance evidence-based solutions for enhancing health conditions in housing. He has published scholarly work in several high-ranking scientific journals, such as Nature, The Lancet Planetary Health, and PLOS Medicine in collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams.

She has been working with Jarmund Vigsnaes Arkitekter in Oslo, Stephen Taylor Architects in London or KCA in Amsterdam. Susanne has been teaching in various institutions; from 2019 – 2021 she was visiting professor at Wismar University of Technology and is currently a guest professor at RISEBA FAD University of Riga. For her research ‘Climate as a design factor – a typological research on vernacular farmsteads and settlements in the Baltic Sea region’ she has received a scholarship from the Professorship Programme of Germany. Susanne is a director at STUDIO SUSANNE BRORSON based on the Island of Rügen, recent projects have been awarded with the BDA Preis and German Design Award in 2021.

She is also an architect and therefore tries to integrate knowledge from her profession into her research work. She profoundly believes in the importance of a holistic approach that can combine design needs and requirements with building technology. She both leads the international projects DAYKE (Daylighting Knowledge in Europe) and NLITED (New Level of Integrated TEchniques for Daylighting education). She is a member of the CIE-Italia and TC 3-54.

She was a tenure-track professor at MIT from 2004 to 2010, was Dean of ENAC at EPFL from 2013 to 2018, is Academic Director of the Smart Living Lab and co-founder of the consulting startup OCULIGHT dynamics. She was Visiting Professor at SUTD in Singapore in 2019. Author of over 200 refereed scientific papers with several distinctions, she was the inaugural laureate of the global Daylight Research Award in 2016 and led the winning Swiss team for the US Solar Decathlon 2017 competition

His work has been exhibited at the Moma NY and GA Gallery, Tokyo, among others, and published in books and magazines such as Detail, Casabella, AV and GA Houses. He has received the Minimum Work Award (Santiago, 2016), House of the Year (Lujubiana, 2017), Architectural Record Design Vanguard (NY, 2020) and AOA Medal for Outstanding Young Architect (2021, Santiago). He has lectured at universities in Chile, the US, England and Japan. He is a professor at the Catholic University of Chile.

After graduating he joined Arup in 1981 and there gained 30 years of experience. In 2011 he joined Foster + Partners’ engineering team which brings integrated engineering design to projects across the practice. He is now Head of Sustainability and leading the sustainability team which guides all projects in aspects of social, environmental and economic sustainability. Additionally, his role includes running a sustainability network throughout the practice to ensure that all staff have an increasing practical understanding.

She studied at the Architectural Association in London, graduating in 1995 and spent several years working in France, the UK and the United States before starting her own practice. She has been awarded several distinctions, such as the NAJA Young Architects’ award in France; the Award for Women Architects in France, and the AJ 40 under 40 Award in the UK. She is a regular lecturer and visiting critic at universities in the UK and throughout Europe, and has taught at the Architectural Association where she is currently an external examiner. She is also a member of the Southwark Design Review Panel.

Following a post-doctoral fellowship at Stanford University, he joined the Department of Experimental Psychology in Oxford in 2017. His research focuses on the visual and non-visual effects of light on humans and how to study them in the lab and field. In addition to his research activities, he is a member of the Daylight Academy, the immediate past Chair of the OSA Color Technical Group, and active in two CIE Technical Committees. In 2022, he will start a Max Planck Research Group at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics in Tübingen (Germany), with a joint appointment as Assistant Professor at Technical University Munich.

Stephen’s research focuses on strategies for efficiently finding the most significant details that characterize the full distribution of daylight conditions within a space. Prior to his PhD studies, Stephen received an M.Arch from the University of California, Berkeley and has over 10 years of experience working as an architect and building performance consultant with a focus on daylight and lighting design 

She works at the intersection of building science, ergonomics, environmental psychology, and health. Her research focuses on the interplay between building performance and human comfort (visual and thermal) and well-being.
A/Prof. Garcia-Hansen is a 2020 Johnson & Johnson Scholar. She was acknowledged internationally by the prestigious WiSTEM2D Scholar award for her proposal on “Creating healing environments in hospitals through efficient lighting design”. She is the CIE Division 3 “Interior Environment and Lighting Design” Editor; and the Australian representative for the technical collaboration program “IEA task 61 Integrated Solutions for Daylight and electric Lighting.”

Currently, Natalia is a postdoc (Marie-Curie IF) at the International Centre for Indoor Environment and Energy, Technical University of Denmark. Her key research topics are daylighting, indoor environmental quality, occupant behavior in the built environment, and environmental psychology. Her current research covers the effects of visual stimuli and other environmental factors on human experience. Natalia has conducted field studies on visual comfort in classrooms, performing behavioral observation of young children's attitudes towards lighting and window views. Natalia has been working on an update of the Brazilian Performance Standard for Residential Buildings (Daylighting Chapter). She has been acting as a reviewer for several academic journals such as Building and Environment and Indoor and Built Environment.

Henry’s master’s degree specialised in Architecture and Extreme Environments, where he explored present and future global challenges in expeditions to diverse locations. Henry is now working at GXN, the innovation unit of the architecture firm 3XN. During 2021, Henry was named global winner of the International Velux Award, Lexus Design Award, and received a Red Dot Design Award for his various projects.

Prior to joining Halio, Chris co-founded Terrestrial Light where he designed, developed, and fabricated the first Sky Camera systems. Chris also worked at Loisos+Ubbelohde, a firm specializing in high performance buildings, providing architectural consulting, design, and research with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainability. Chris holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of California, Berkeley and has expertise in architectural design, daylighting design, and analysis through computational models.

Joerg is ambitious and curious about finding new solutions which fit the client’s identity and objective. Joerg is a passionate team leader and remains actively involved in all phases from Concept through Construction Administration. Prior to joining Gensler in 2018, he has worked for renowned practices, including positions at Coop Himmelb(l)au in Vienna, Austria, as Associate Architect at UNStudio Amsterdam and Shanghai, as General Manager for Ippolito Fleitz Group, Shanghai.

The focus of his current work is lighting for pedestrians and cyclists – how can we use lighting to support active travel after dark. He is Editor in Chief of Lighting Research and Technology and an Associate Director of CIE Division 4. He founded the LumeNet research methods symposium and the BrightLights blog to support PhD students on their often lonely path towards a successful research thesis

In 2017 Keith moved to a Vice President role in VELUX A/S and in January 2018 Keith took the role as Senior Vice President in Sales & Marketing. Prior to VELUX Keith worked in various FMCG branded businesses, primarily Diageo which includes alcoholic drinks brands such as Guinness, Johnnie Walker and Smirnoff.

Her first jobs were at Den Grønne Friskole, EEN TIL EEN and Atelier Kristoffer Tejlgaard, that focus on wood and other biological construction materials. During the hot summer of 2018 the Green Student Movement had their first meetings in Copenhagen, and Signe took the initiative for a focus group on the construction sector. The small group arranged meetings within the sector, a panel discussion on Building Green, audiences before the climate- and housing committees of the Parliament and wrote a citizen’s proposal for regulations on embodied carbon in buildings. For this work, Signe was granted with InnoBYG and Building Green’s sustainability prize in 2020. Signe is now advisor for the construction industry in Green Transition Denmark.

An Architect by training (La Sapienza), he holds a MAS in Architecture and Sustainable Development (EPFL), and a PhD in Environmental Engineering (La Sapienza). He has held academic positions in Italy (2001-04), Australia (2004-07) and UK (2007-17), and visiting roles at the Royal Danish Academy (2013-15) and the University of California Berkeley (2012-18). His expertise focuses on visual and non-visual responses to lighting, and the definition of strategies to support the comfort, health and well-being of occupants, while sustaining the energy performance and the aesthetic appreciation of built spaces.

She specializes in daylighting and visual comfort through her research at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), at the Laboratory of Performance-Integrated Design (LIPID), and later on at DTU. Her research and teaching focus on façade strategies, integrated lighting and daylighting strategies, gaze–photometry, human performance, and exposure-response characterization to spectral lighting.

Since 2019, he has used his research to develop a number of digital tools related to sustainability. As a team member at White Arkitekter in Stockholm, Alejandro has driven the development of a digital analysis toolkit that allows architects to get early stage indications on environmental aspects such as daylight, energy use, and microclimate.

He has been working with his father Much Untertrifaller senior since 1982 and his Silvretta house on the Bielerhöhe marked a change in alpine building. Mid 1980s, the successful collaboration with Helmut Dietrich began. In 1994, after winning the international competition for the Festspielhaus in Bregenz, they opened their joint practice in Bregenz. The successful competition for the extension of the Wiener Stadthalle resulted in a second office in Vienna. In 2005, they established a branch in St Gallen, joining forces with Christof Stäheli. In 2015, the office in Paris was opened, followed by Munich in 2016.
Since 2016, Much Untertrifaller has been teaching as an honorary professor at the Konstanz University of Applied Sciences. He is i.a. president of the ZV (Central Association of Austrian Architects) Vorarlberg and member of the design advisory board Graz, Kassel, Landshut and Bezau.

In his work Haas focuses on the development of innovative sustainable architecture. In April 2012, after a six-year partnership, Haas, together with David Cook and Stephan Zemmrich, opened his own architectural firm ‘haascookzemmrich STUDIO2050’, implementing projects at home and abroad. As co-founder of the DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council), Martin Haas is a member of the executive board and has been its vice president since 2013. Since 2008 he has held a visiting professorship at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia as well as the Universita di Sassari in Italy.
Since 2017 Martin Haas has been a member of the architectural committee in Karlsruhe in Germany.

She also graduated from the Architectural Association, School of Architecture in London with a BA and from the School of Visual Arts in New York with a BFA.
She has been practicing as an urban designer and architect for the past eleven years in several award-winning international offices. She joined UNStudio in 2014 to lead the newly formed Urban Unit. She specialises in urban spatial analysis. Her role includes consulting design teams on development of urban responses, site context analysis and urban visioning, as well as lead designer in international master plans assignments.
Dana is also an urban strategist at UNSense, UNStudio’s start-up, focusing on the link between technology and the built environment.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from Politecnico di Torino, an Erasmus Mundus Master in Building Information Modelling, a double Master of Science in Architecture from Politecnico di Milano and Politecnico di Torino, and is an Alta Scuola Politecnica alumni. His work investigates the intersections of architecture, regenerative sustainability, use of BIM methodology, and data-driven design workflows. At Architects Soini & Horto, he is responsible for exploring, developing, and integrating digital design and sustainability methods and proposals in the firm’s projects. 

He has got 20+ years of experience in leading people and has run organisations, chaired boards and developed change-makers - across five continents - and across many more cultures. As a Chartered Director and as a mentor he provides 1:1 advice to Chairs, Chief Execs and senior leaders - and the next generation of change-makers - with a particular focus on strategy, change and turnarounds. He is particularly interested in how strategic alignment can focus people - and enable sustainable growth and renewal. He is also a committed espresso drinker.

Honors include receiving the American Academy of Arts and Letters Award in Architecture in 2002 and in 2004 winning the prestigious National Design Award from the Smithsonian Institute/Cooper-Hewitt Museum. In 2015, Rick was vested into the American Institute of Architects’ College of Fellows and the Royal Institute of British Architects’ RIBA International College of Fellows. He was inducted into the Interior Design Hall of Fame in a Javits Center event in 2019. Other professional affiliations include The College of Fellows of The American Institute of Architects, The American Academy of Arts and Letters, Tucson MOCA Advisory Board Member. Rick lectures internationally and periodically serves as visiting professor at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design, Rice University, M.I.T. and the University of Arizona.

Her role oversees C40’s support to cities on reducing energy consumed by existing buildings; ensuring new buildings are efficient from the start and cleaning up the energy supply to buildings and beyond. Cassie brings over 10 years of experience in climate change and energy. Prior to joining C40, she worked at the Greater London Authority where she was the project manager for the London Environment Strategy. Launched in 2018 it is a world leading strategy for environment ambition at a city level. She was also leading the climate adaptation and sustainable development team, working to manage London’s climate risks and impacts and improve quality of life. Cassie has a wide range of technical experience in buildings and energy including developing new carbon scoring tools for national energy efficiency schemes and assessing new energy efficiency measures while working at the UK energy regulator Ofgem. She has also developed national government policy on smart energy systems.

For nearly a decade he worked at the World Green Building Council - the world’s largest sustainable buildings network - becoming its first Regional Director for Europe in 2015 and co-founding major initiatives including Buildings Day at COP21 Paris, the EU’s ‘Level(s)’ sustainable buildings policy and the Energy Efficient Mortgages Initiative. He previously worked for the Royal Institute of British Architects and began his career as an environment and climate change lawyer with global law firm Linklaters. James holds an MA from Cambridge University.

Visiting professor in architecture in Munich, Delft and Calgary. Kasper is also a circular economy advisor for the Danish Government and the City of Amsterdam, and recently was appointed Chairman for the development of European Standards for Circular Construction.

Tina and Aljoša have both graduated from the Faculty of Architecture, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia and continued studying at the Architectural Association in London, where they received their postgraduate master’s degrees in architecture with Distinction in 2002. They now do research in participation, responsive environments and mass-customization at the AA.
As curators of the Slovenian national pavilion at Venice Architecture Biennale 2016 they addressed the topics of home and dwelling as current, critical social and environmental issues.
Alongside their architectural practice, Aljoša Dekleva and Tina Gregorič are involved in reshaping approaches to architectural education.

She has over a decade of experience in practice and research in Pakistan, the UK and the US as a Fulbright Scholar. Her current research takes a multi-method approach, aiming to bridge the gaps in our current knowledge about window view preferences and the behavioural responses that result from these preferences. In addition to her research, Ayesha advises on the boards of the Mian Muhammad Bukhsh Trust and the RIBA Education Group in the East Midlands.

Founder of the Office / Atelier Natura Futura, Obtaining Nominations within the Americas award and the Panamerican Biennial of Quito with exhibitions at the Architecture Festival in Bali, Indonesia and at the Architecture Biennial of Valparaíso, Chile. Working on a research proposal on urban decoders and peripheral city identities.

Zakaria is dedicated to measuring the impact of space in the human brain. Zakaria is a renowned and talented researcher in the crossing of architecture and cognitive neuroscience, a rather unique combination of scientific interest.
As a recipient of the Spar Nord Fondens Research Award with the acknowledgment of 250.000 DKK Zakaria’s talent is evident to many and his contribution to research is recognized by many. His main approach revolves around firstly creating experiments of everyday interactions with varying spaces while looking into the sensorimotor brain dynamics—and secondly to model the underlying structures for analytical purposes. He’s driven by the general question; how does architecture affect our everyday capacities?

She worked in the building consultancy branch before turning to the research world and starting in 2018 an industrial PhD in a collaboration between Saint-Gobain Nordic and the Technical University of Denmark. In her research, she collaborated with social scientists to collect end-users’ perspectives on their low-energy homes and the technical systems in them, highlighting the existing barriers to energy efficiency and comfort in practice. After completing her PhD, she joined VELUX as an indoor climate specialist in June 2021, where she continues to promote homes that benefit both people and planet.

She was awarded as Global Chinese Young Architect, China Contemporary Top-100 Architect, 2020 Shenzhen Engineering Survey and Design Master, 2020 Honor of one of 40 Excellent Contributors at Shenzhen SEZ Establishment 40 Anniversaries, 2020 Women in Green Building Leadership Award.
She is the main designer of IBR Headquarters, which is a famous National 3-Star Green Building of China with over 30 domestic and international awards. Shenzhen International Low-Carbon City Project is one of the Ten Flagship Projects of Sino-European New Urbanization, which was awarded as 2014 Sustainable Planning Award (only one in that year) project by the Paulson Institute and CCIEE Prize for Cities of the Future.

He has presided over 8 international large-scale sports construction projects, has won 8 international awards and over 30 domestic awards. He has presided over 6 key projects and international cooperation projects of NSFC, has won 3 National Teaching Achievement Awards and 5 Provincial Science and Technology Awards, published over 160 papers and 10 academic books and technical manuals.

She has been leading the IKEA Life at Home Report since 2017, in her capacity as a Life at Home Communications Leader for IKEA Retail (Ingka Group). Katie is also a Fellow of the RSA and has written for outlets including the Guardian, Eco-business, and the United Nations Foundation news site Global Daily. In her spare time, she runs a modern enlightenment salon that is designed to connect like-minded women.

Lidia also holds the position of Vice-Chancellor Fellow, Global Centre for Clean Air Research (GCARE), University of Surrey. She conducts fundamental and applied research in the interdisciplinary field of air quality and its impact on human health and the environment, with a specific focus on the science of airborne particulate matter. An author of over nine hundred journal papers, book chapters and refereed conference papers, Lidia has been involved at the executive level with a number of relevant national and international professional bodies, is a member of the Australian Academy of Science and a recipient of numerous scientific awards.

With her group, she investigates the effects of light and natural views on human functioning, with a keen interest in mental states (e.g., vigilance, vitality), behaviour (e.g., performance) and health-related phenomena (e.g., physiology, sleep). Her group has chosen its niche in effects of light and light exposure for day-active people in a real-world context. Their research agenda is translational and integrative and hence includes controlled studies in the lab as well as field research in the wild, and qualitative as well as quantitative methods.

As WWF Verdensnaturfonden’s Conservation Director, Jacob leads the Conservation Department of WWF Denmark, including national and international policy and programme engagements.

His teaching combines infrastructure finance (including public-private partnerships), investing in resilience (notably in the face of sea rise in some areas and drought in others), economic development, and the impact of new technologies in delivering new infrastructure and making old infrastructure more efficient. His most recent book is "Healthy Buildings: How Indoor Spaces Drive Performance and Productivity" (Harvard University Press, 2020).

as well as at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Paris-Belleville in Paris, and also worked in architectural offices in Basel, Zurich and Tokyo. He is an editor at Architektur Basel, a member of the cantonal commission for monument subsidies and a member of the SIA.

Her expertise is in daylight modelling and monitoring, including annual daylight simulation, weather files, solar radiation data, and operational daylight performance. Her PhD thesis “Applicability of Climate-Based Daylight Modelling” tackled current daylight simulation practice and unveiled the uncertainties found in widespread daylight performance metrics. She is actively collaborating with industrial companies and with professional associations, such as the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) and the International Building Performance Simulation Association (IBPSA).

Ingrid is a dedicated leader with a long experience from the building industry, defense sector and the Danish and the European Parliament. She is an experienced speaker and has extensive knowledge of energy and sustainable buildings, and serves as member in several advisory boards and committees addressing energy and climate issues. Ingrid is Chairman of the Danish Government's Council for Energy Efficient Transition, and ViceChair of the Danish Governments Climate Partnership for the Built Environment. She is also Board Member of UN Global Compact Denmark, ViceChair of Synergi (interest organisaiton for Energy Efficiency), Member of IEA's Advisory Committee for Energy Effiency and a Board Member of EuroACE - The European Alliance of Companies for Energy Efficiency in Buildings.

He is the former partner of Steven Holl Architects, and director of Columbia University GSAPP’s Studio-X Beijing.

Her background is in architecture and lighting design, with research experience in subjective assessments of daylight and views using experimental and field methods. In this talk, Dr Rodriguez will present her recent research in cultural perspectives in view quality evaluation and how daylight has mediated people’s adaptation to different urban views. 

Focusing on sustainable environmental design and circularity, Franz is the cofounder of dataTrees, a Norwegian company that delivers products to the AEC to facilitate a more sustainable and performative architecture.

Markus has been working together with his partners since 2010. He also worked as an external lecturer at the building teaching institute of the Vienna University of Technology and at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Graz University of Technology. He studied architecture at TU Graz and in Valencia/ ES

which make it easy to explore a myriad of solutions for an optimal building design with low energy consumption. Indoor climate parameters will be included in the equation, and the results will be distributed to our partners in a smarter way.

His focus is on the use of daylight in buildings, designing for people and their tasks, modernising lighting control experiences and delivering dark skies. He is the president elect of the Society of Light and Lighting, a Fellow of the Society of Light and Lighting and a member of the Institution of Lighting Professionals. Andrew graduated in 1996 from UMIST.

Since 2011 he has been the Delegate of the Rector for International Relations with the Far East. He represents Politecnico di Milano in the European research network Active House Alliance. He conducts research in building innovation and the identification of technical solutions for high energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. He is the scientific consultant of Arte Sella concerning the architectural and design installations, member of the Scientific Board of Angelo Mangiarotti Foundation, member of the board of Fondazione Pesenti and Honorary Consultant of CAC - Círculo dos Amigos da Cultura de Macau (since 2019).

He runs the Design for Climate and Comfort lab at U of T where he works with students to address daylighting, human comfort, health, and energy efficiency within buildings and urban areas. Alstan co-created the ClimateStudio and ALFA tools for calculating the daylighting and energy performance of buildings and cities as part of Solemma and actively develops new software tools as part of his research.

In 2014 Frederik co-founded CPH Village, a housing startup creating affordable and attractive ways of living within the planetary boundaries.

CPH Village has built 350 homes with prices 15% below market average and a CO2 footprint 70% lower than other new-built homes. CPH Village expects to build 2500 homes in Copenhagen by 2023 before scaling internationally.

Her work focuses on the values that humans associate with nature – ecological, philosophical, psychological, symbolic, spiritual, economic – and interprets how these values are embodied in contemporary architecture, landscape design, and policy. She is the author of Landscape and Branding: The Promotion and Production of Place (Routledge, 2016), along with over 40 research articles and conference presentations. Dr. Porter’s current research interests include biophilic design, integrating mindfulness and place-making for wellbeing, and observational drawing as a research method. 

Over his three decades at Henning Larsen, he has cultivated a wide spectrum of international experience and oversees the development of the practice’s design profile. Taking a context-driven approach to the design process, he tackles every project based on the conviction that architecture must speak directly to users and give back to the society in which it exists. He is a highly sought public speaker at universities in Denmark and abroad and regularly sits on the juries of international competitions. In 2011, he was awarded the Eckersberg Medal from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, in recognition of his excellent contributions to elevating the global presence of Danish architecture.

His research interests centre on defining how visual signals influence physiology and behaviour, with a particular focus on circadian and related ‘non-visual’ responses and build on insights gained from experiments in rodent models and modelling using data from human studies to define how signals from the different classes of retinal photoreceptors contribute. Through these activities, TB has contributed to the scientific consensus workshops that established the precursor to the new CIE S 026:2018 measurement standard and subsequent associated lighting recommendations.
